Comparison entry-level DSLRs Canon 2000d vs 4000d Apart from the separate reviews of the Canon 2000d and 4000d, in this article, we decided to do a Canon 2000d vs 4000d comparison. We can discover which are their differences and moreover, which one is the best for you. Whereas the 2000d and the 4000d have the same size of sensor, the 2000D delivers a higher resolution of 24 mpx while the 4000D only 17.9 mpx. Furthermore, the 2000D has a range of sensitivity of ISO 100-6400. Likewise, the on-board flash has to be folded up manually on the Rebel T100 (EOS 4000D), while the Rebel T7 (EOS 2000D) has an automatic and a button to fold it out. While the Rebel T7 (EOS 2000D) with the EF-S 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 IS II should cost almost 500 dollars while the Rebel T100 (EOS 4000D) together with the EF-S 18-55 F3.5-5.6 III (without IS) should be available for almost 400 dollars. With the EOS 2000D and in particular the 4000D, Canon introduces two cheapest DSLRs for the entry-level segment, which stand out above all due to their low price, but still offer DSLR image quality. Canon is not even afraid of a plastic bayonet for the 4000D, but a metal bayonet is used for the 2000D, the successor of the Rebel T6 (in the US) or 1300D. Let´s do a short introduction to this Canon 2000d vs 4000d discussion. We will see which are their differences at a glance. The Canon EOS 2000D, on the other hand, uses a more robust metal bayonet, and the image sensor with 24 megapixels also has a higher resolution than the 4000D and the predecessor model 1300D, both of which have to get by with 18 megapixels. [Photo: Canon] In addition, printed keys have fallen victim to some removal of features, and there is no longer a dedicated on/off switch, instead, the camera is switched on via the program selector wheel. Even with a set lens, savings are made, it has to get by without an optical image stabilizer. Canon even saved a lot on the rear screen: it measures only 6.8 centimeters in the diagonal of the 4000D and resolves a measly 230,000 pixels. [Photo: Canon] After all, the 2000D gets an image sensor with 24 megapixels higher resolution in APS-C format (crop factor 1.6), while the 4000D, like the old 1300D, has to get by with 18 megapixels. The maximum sensitivity reaches ISO 6.400, an extension to ISO 12.800 is possible after activation in the menu. Also the image processor Digic 4+ is an old acquaintance, it already drives the 1300D. The reflex viewfinder of both cameras has to make do with a simple mirror construction instead of a high-quality pentaprism. At 0.8x magnification (0.5x in 35mm equivalent) it covers 95 percent of the image field. The autofocus works in viewfinder mode with nine measuring points, only the middle autofocus point is a cross sensor. The continuous-advance function only takes it to three frames per second. The Canon EOS 2000D, on the other hand, has a real switch for switching on and off. The program selector wheel remains in the last used position. [Photo: Canon] Even on the top side, the Canon EOS 4000D is dominated by the savings dictate. The camera is switched on and off via the program selector wheel instead of its own switch. Even with the video function, the entry-level photographer must be satisfied with Full HD standard fare. This is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at 30 frames per second. During live viewing and video recording, only a contrast autofocus is available, while the faster dual-pixel CMOS AF is reserved for higher-quality EOS models. Both the 2000D and 4000D recognize subjects automatically, but can also be controlled manually by the photographer. They also offer some creative filter functions. WLAN is also on board on both models to transmit photos wirelessly to computers, smartphones, or other devices and to control the cameras remotely via the app. NFC for simple coupling, however, only offers the 2000D. Both the cameras themselves and the Canon Photo Companion App offer helpful instructions for taking different photo scenes. Since April 2018 the Canon EOS 2000D is available as a set with the EF-S 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 IS II for almost 500 dollars. [Photo: Canon] One important thing buyers of the 2000D and 4000D should still consider: Although these are fully compatible with the many EF and EF-S lenses, Canon alone offers over 80 different models, but the flash shoes no longer have center contacts. The Speedlite flashes from Canon don't bother about that. But to what extent they affect other manufacturers' flashes can't be said at the moment. Simple center contact flashes logically do not work anyway. More Canon 2000d vs 4000d differences. They also differ in one small respect when it comes to the flash as follows. The on-board flash of the 4000D has to be flipped up manually. But instead, the 2000D has an automatic function and a button to unfold. Since April 2018 the Canon EOS 2000D and 4000D is already available. The Canon 2000D with the EF-S 18-55 mm F3.5-5.6 IS II will cost about 500 dollars. The Canon 4000D together with the EF-S 18-55 F3.5-5.6 III (without IS) is available for about 400 dollars. The predecessor model 1300D, called Rebel T6 in the US, on the other hand, is already available with an image-stabilized lens from a good 370 dollars. Therefore, we cannot recommend the poorly equipped and more expensive 4000D to anyone with a clear conscience. After all, the 2000D offers a higher sensor resolution.
